To reconfigure Outlook and Outlook Express 6 (both versions of which shall be referred to in
this document as simply, "Outlook") for Windows to use one (or both) of these secure
protocols, follow the steps below.
1. Lauch Outlook
2. Select Accounts (or Services for Outlook 2002/XP) from the Tools dropdown menu.
3. Click the Mail tab to display the accounts that are already configured.
4. Single-click on the account you wish to modify and then click on the Properties button.
5. Click on the General tab if it's not already in the front, and ensure your Name and Reply
address (e.g. username@domain.name) are entered correctly.
6. Click on the Servers tab.
7. Set Incoming Mail Server to mail.rotmax.com
8. Ensure that your username is entered in the Account Name field.
9. Ensure that mail.rotmax.com is entered as the SMTP server.
10. Click on the Advanced tab.
11. If you are using mail.rotmax.com, ensure the box beside, "This server requires a
secure connection (SSL)" is checked under Outgoing mail (SMTP).
12. Under Incoming mail (POP), ensure the box beside, "This server requires a
secure connection (SSL)" is checked. Note that the port number used will change
automatically ( to 995 for POP).
13. Click OK to save your settings.
14. Click Close to close the account configuration dialog box.
15. You may be presented with a dialog box which says, "You have made changes to one or
more accounts that may affect your list of folders. Would you like to refresh your folder
list?" Click YES to refresh your folder list.
16. Close and relaunch Outlook. Some settings changes will not take effect unless you do
so.
17. Send yourself a test message and ensure that you can send and receive mail.
